Mrs. Mary M. Withee, one of the oldest residents of Bangor, died at her home, 71 Holland street, Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Withee was 97 years old. She was born in Starks and was the daughter of Charles and Olive McCoy, who were among the pioneer settlers of Maine.

She married Simeon W. Withee of Anson in 1850 and the couple moved to Bangor, Mr. Withee taking a position with the Morse Lumber Co., as a surveyor, which he occupied for 40 years. He died in 1914.

Mrs. Withee had been a resident of Bangor for 75 years and was fond of telling of the city in its early days.
