Harold Withee
1898-1966


Madison - Harold Withee, 67, died Wednesday at his home on Ward Hill after a long illness.

He was born Aug. 2, 1898 in Anson, the son of Fred and Addie Milton Withee. He was educated in Anson schools and operated a taxi and later a trucking service before retiring.

On March 21, 1933, he married Bertha M. Tozier of Skowhegan. They had made their home in Madison for the past 32 years.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Sgt. Frank Withee with the U.S. Army in Germany, Clifford H. and Donald P., both Madison, H. Ralph of Anson, and Richard L. of Waterville; four daughters, Mrs. Alice Paine and the Misses Joan M. and Gloria J. Withee, all of Madison, and Mrs. Mae Robinson of Gardiner; 17 grandchildren; two brothers, Fred of Madison and William of Skowhegan; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Brooks of Wilton and Miss Ella Withee of Madison; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Edwards Funeral Home, 165 Main Street, with the Rev. Robert L. Walden officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in the spring.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
