Levant and Bangor - Glendon C. Withee, 84, husband of the late Beatrice I. (Bragg) Withee, a resident of Levant for many years, died April 9, 1991, at a Bangor health-care center. He was born at Anson, Nov. 15, 1906, the son of John and Alice (Downing) Withee. He had been employed by the B&A Railroad for many years. Glendon was a member of the South Levant Baptist Church, a charter member of the Teamsters Union No. 340, and the Railway Carman of America, Local 1158. Surviving are four daughters and their husbands, Mary and Ray Bemis of Levant, Joan and Timon Nilsen of Durham, Glenda and Louis Coffey of Libertyville, Ill., and Linda and Galen Wiggin of Levant; one son, J. Peter Withee of Levant; 13 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Persis and Ruth, both of Skowhegan. Friends may call 3-5 and 7:8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in South Levant Cemetery. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the memorial fund of the South Levant Baptist Church, care of Nancy Quinn, treasurer, RFD 1, Box 3490, Levant 04456, or to a charity of one’s choice.
