Madison - Fred Withee, 87, died Wednesday in a Skowhegan hospital.

He was born July 18, 1905, in Anson, the son of Fred and Abbie (Milton) Withee.

He married Lina Palmer, March 31, 1925, in Madison. She died in 1981.

He was a woodsman until he retired.

He loved horses.

A daughter, Maxine Corson died previously.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Haggas of Norridgewock and Janice Huntington of Connecticut; one sister, Ella Withee of Madison; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Edwards Funeral Home, 165 Main St., Madison.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison.
