Florence M. Polley, 84, wife of the late Forest L. Polley, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at an Ellsworth health-care facility. She was born in Ellsworth, March 5, 1915, the daughter of Albert G. and Rebecca M. (Withee) Moon.
She is survived by three children, Virginia Somers of Orrington, Esther Curtis and her husband, Sonny, of Ellsworth, and Gerald Polley and his wife, Linda, of Fargo, N.D.; 10 grandchildren, Dale Somers, Patricia Pringle, Tami MacLellan, Robert Somers, Cynthia Moir, Pamela Taylor, Michael Ireland, Jeanne Bragg, Skip Curtis, and Crystal Lindsey; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Joseph Taylor French, "We’ll miss you, Ninnis"; a sister, Virginia Garland of Hampden; a brother, George Moon and his wife, Ween, of Orrington; two special friends, Trudy Fox and Mary Sheppard, both of Ellsworth; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert and James "Markie" Moon.
A funeral service was held Nov. 15, 1999, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, with the Rev. John Dunn officiating. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the staff at Collier’s Nursing Home.
