Silas O. McWithey, who has been in failing health for some time, died at his home on Purdy avenue in this village on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 1900, aged 72 years and 8 months. He was born in this village and has lived practically all his life in this vicinity. In 1845 he became united by marriage with Miss Lucy McWithey, who died in 1864. He was married again in 1868 to Miss Mary Rouesbury, who still survives. Besides his widow he leaves to mourn his loss eight children, five sons and three daughters: Madison of Wyoming, Mrs. C.W. Robinson of Janesville, Wis., Mrs. Edgar A. Chase of Perry, Martin of Pleasant View, N. Dakota, Burt B., John W., Frank R. and Affa G. of Warsaw. He also is survived by one brother and three sisters, Henry of Dixon, Ill., Mrs. C. H. Gardner of Warsaw, Mrs. Antice Reid of Oklahoma and Mrs. Larooka Robinson of Iowa. Fifteen years ago he began living a Christian life and has since been a consistent member of the church. A loving husband, a devoted father and a kind and thoughtful neighbor has gone to his well earned reward. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Friday afternoon, Nov 2d at one o’clock, the Rev. E.J. Whitney officiating. Burial at Warsaw cemetery.
