Craig Coffin Dies In Boise
Heart Attack Fatal to Former Hardware, Bank Executive

Craig Coffin, 56, son of one of Boise's oldest pioneer families, former hardware man of Boise an one time president of the former Boise City National Bank, died Monday night at a Boise hospital.

He suffered a heart attack a year ago and recovered. A week ago last Sunday he suffered another heart attack and was taken to St. Luke's hospital, where he died Monday.

Mr. Coffin was born in Boise January 24, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank R. Coffin. He went to grade school in Boise, and later attended Mount Tamalpais military school in San Rafael, Cal.

After graduation from Exeter college in New Hampshire, he returned to Boise and was in business with his father in the Coffin-Clinton hardware company.

Following the sale of that business, his father and associates purchased the Boise City National bank and Craig Coffin entered the bank's employ as a teller.

In Wholesale Firm

After the death of his father, Mr. Coffin became connected with the Northrup Hardware company, a wholesale hardware house. Later he returned to the Boise City National bank as president.

In recent years he was engaged in a number of business ventures.

Mr. Coffin played a prominent part in the campaign for funds to bring the main line of the Union Pacific railroad to Boise and in the drive for funds to build the recent addition to St. Luke's hospital. He was a tireless worker in all civic enterprises.

He was married in 1910 to Lela Tucker of Wayne, Neb.

Surviving are his wife and three sons, Frank, Craig, jr., Thomas and a sister, Mrs. L.R. Holbrook. Mrs. Holbrook is the wife of General L.R. Holbrook, retired. She is now in Boise., His son, Frank, arrived in Boise last Tuesday from Portland.

The body is at the Screiber and McCann chapel. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Final Rites for Boise Businessman Slated This Afternoon

Funeral services for Craig Coffin, 56, Boise Businessman and son of a pioneer Idaho family, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Schreiber & McCann chapel. The Very Rev. Frank A. Rhea, dean of St. Michael's cathedral, will officiate. Burial will be in Morris Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carl Brown of McCall, Leo J. Falk, Joe Robinson, Gordon Smith, Reilly Atkinson, Jess Hawley, O.O. Haga and Frank Ensign.

Mr. Coffin died Monday night of a heart attack at a Boise hospital.

Mr. Coffin was born in Boise. He was at one time president of the Boise City National bank, and was for many years associated with his father, the late Frank R. Coffin, in the bank and other business enterprises. The elder Coffin was one of Boise's oldest pioneers, coming here in 1862.
