Mildred Wilhelmina Williams Brenden
1911-2003

Mildred W. Brenden, 91, of Helena, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at St. Peter's Hospital.

She was born Oct. 8, 1911, in Bozeman to John Clyde and Wilhelmina (Peterson) Williams. She grew up on a farm in Bridger Canyon and attended Bozeman schools.

In January 1931, she married John B. Yeager of Choteau after which they resided on the family farm. They later divorced. On July 2, 1952, she married George W. (Bill) Brenden. Following Bill's death in 1973, she moved to Mesa, Ariz., to be near family. She was active at the Camelback Christian Church, Scottsdale, Ariz., where she served as the Sunshine Lady and looked forward to the baked sales.

Following an illness in 1996, she moved to Helena to be with her daughter.

She was a resident of Cooney Convalescent Home for the last six years, where she received loving care. Although quadriplegic, she had a keen mind and enjoyed the TV and visits from friends and relatives. She said that she tried to do her best every day of her life and lived by that creed.

She is survived by three daughters and a son: Donna (B.J.) Wong Demschenko of Bellingham, Wash., Verna Green of Helena, Marjorie Franks of Mesa; and Jack Yeager of Mesa; a stepdaughter, Anna Mae Anderson of Auburn, Wash.; 12 grandchildren, including Stephen Green and family of Bozeman; 24 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be June 22, at 3 p.m. at Camelback Christian Church, Scottsdale. Burial of cremated remains will be in September in Bozeman. Memorials are suggested to giver's choice. Helena Funeral Chapel has completed the funeral arrangements.
