Orchards, Dec. 6. - John W. Breed, aged 81 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.H. Wood, Saturday evening. Mr. Breed's wife died about three years ago. He was born in Linn, Massachusetts, and came to this county about 11 years ago and has resided at Orchards since.

The sudden death of Mr. Breed was a shock to the community. Mr. Breed was more than 80 years of age and had been ill the first of the week but had apparently recovered and was at the table for the evening meal when he was over taken by death. He had remarked but a few minutes before his death that he had never felt better in his life. Before medical aid could reach him, Mr. Breed had passed away.

Mr. Breed is a member of the Orchards Methodist church and also a member of the Orchards post of the G.A.R.

He is survived by three daughters, Mr. C.H. Wood, of Orchards, Mrs. Fred Pratt, of Portland, and Mrs. Josie Garrison, of Kansas.
