"THE SCOTTISH ANCESTRY of the Families Descended James MacRORY" "One genealogist observed that the name Mackerwithey was susceptible to more variations of spelling and pronunciation than any family name encountered in America. In order to follow the family names stemming from James MACRORY, there is presented a brief transitional outline of the many spellings found in the records.
1661, James MACARORY appears on the tax lists of Dedham, Mass.
1662, James MACARORY married Mary Everett of Dedham, the daughter of Richard Everett. In 1680, Richard Everett in his will left to James MACKERWITHEY seven acres of land to vest in his grandchildren James, Daniel, and Mary, children of his daughter Mary.
1663, James MACKERWITHA appeared in the town records. Both names and variations, and MACKERWITHEY and variations) appeared alternately in the records for about 25 years.
1685, the name MACARORY ceased.
The best opinions hold that the original name was MacRORY or McCRORY, and the transitions were caused by Scottish articulation together with English phonetic spelling." "James Mackerwithey married Patience Cubby 20 Feb 1670/1, after the death of his first wife, Mary. It is believed the clerk made an error in writing "Patience" in the marriage record, and that it should have been "Experience". There is no record of the death of Patience or the marriage to Experience, but all subsequent children were born to James and Experience." (ibid. p.4)

James married Mary Everett, daughter of Richard Everett and Mary, in Nov 1662 in Dedham, Norfolk, Massachusetts.1 2 3 (Mary Everett was born on 28 Sep 1638 in Dedham, Norfolk, Massachusetts 2 3 5 6, christened on 15 Apr 1646 in Dedham, Norfolk, Massachusetts and died on 13 Jun 1670 in Dedham, Norfolk, Massachusetts 2 7.)

James also married Experience Or Patience Cubby on 20 Feb 1671 in Dedham, Norfolk, Massachusetts.3 4 5 (Experience Or Patience Cubby was born about 1651 of Dedham, Norfolk, Massachusetts 3 5.)
